The famous Malayali director Alphonso Puthren’s latest directorial Gold was widely recognized in its grand theatrical run earning decent at the box office in less than from the nationwide release is all set to explode fire on OTT.
The movie marked the Premam director’s first project ever since his grand hit Premam released 7 years back is having Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara in the lead in this comic thriller.
The film, which hit theatres in the first week of December, was produced by Prithviraj Productions along with Magic Frames. The movie, which is a comedy entertainer, didn’t quite meet the hype that it made pre-release. Prithviraj, himself, had said in a recent interview that the movie didn’t work, but it was profitable for the producers.
Reportedly the major reason behind the film’s early release on OTT is because the movie’s OTT, satellite, and overseas rights were sold for a record sum way before the movie had hit the theatres.
Amazon Prime Video had snapped up the movie’s streaming rights, and now the movie’s director Alphonse has confirmed that Gold will release on the platform on December 29.
The plot of the movie revolves around Joshiy, a mobile shop owner, who makes all possible efforts to move a pick-up truck that he finds is parked in front of his house one day.

Soon after the case, he discovers that the truck he has found contains the smuggled gold and decides to make the most of the opportunity and arrives at the right doorstep.
But, the suspense and thrill go ahead as parallel to his attempts are the arcs of a bunch of goons and two wealthy men, all of whom are also tied to the gold.
Apart from Prithviraj, the movie also has Baburaj, Jagadeesh, Roshan Mathew, Vinay Forrt, Sharafudheen, Siju Wilson, Shanti Krishna, Shammi Thilakan, Deepti Sati, Shabareesh Varma, Lalu Alex, Ajmal Ameer and Chemban Vinod Jose in cameo roles.
On the work front Prithviraj’s latest release Kappa which hit theatres on December 22, is expected to drop on Netflix in January 2023, which is directed by Shaji Kailas, and also has Asif Ali, Anna Ben and Aparna Balamurali.
