Elections of five municipal corporations, 44 municipal councils, nagar panchayats, and bypoll for 49 wards of urban civic bodies in Punjab will take place on December 21, 2024. Five MCs of Punjab will undergo elections on December 21 namely- Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Phagwara. Ahead of the Jalandhar MC Elections 2024, True Scoop's ground report unraveled some interesting facts.

Overall, AAP has an edge in the upcoming Jalandhar MC Elections 2024. However, despite Congress securing victory in many constituencies during the LS Polls 2024, multiple wards are witnessing the BJP vs. AAP contest. In many wards, Congress has slumped to the number 3 spot. Furthermore, there are silent voters in many wards who can change the course of the outcome.
The true Scoop ground report also tried to find out which candidates were enjoying an edge or facing tough poll fights from their rival candidates. Below is a list of wards and candidates who are facing tough competition from their rivals-
- Ward Number 1: AAP's candidate Paramjit Kaur is giving a tough poll fight to BJP candidate Sharda Syal. On the other hand, Congress' Ashu Sharma may have a close fight for the second or third spot.
- Ward Number 2: This ward is also witnessing AAPvsBJP with AAP candidate Vijay Bhatia getting tough competition from BJP's Vishal Kumar.
