Farmer organizations are preparing for 'Delhi Chalo' march on February 13 for their demands including legal guarantee for MSP, implementation of Swaminathan Commission recommendations, withdrawal of cases registered against farmers and other demands. Hundreds of farmers are making announcements by going from village to village in Bathinda district. Going door to door, collecting ration and necessary funds for the movement. This is the condition of many villages of Punjab.
Resham Singh, General Secretary of Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Sidhpur informed that 6 months' ration will be kept with every trolley for the farmers. An appeal was also made that at least one member from each household should join the Morcha. At least 500 tractor trolleys, pickup vehicles and private vehicles were sent from Bathinda itself.
Farmers, youth, elderly and women, are travelling to delhi in more than 600 tractor trolleys. Farmers say that their provisions include gas stoves, cylinders, mattresses, clothes, tarpaulins, Langar ration like flour, salt, sugar, tea leaves, pulses etc. They say that they will return only after getting our demands fulfilled. No matter how many obstacles the government puts in the way of farmers, they will reach Delhi and will fulfill their purpose against all odds. They say that they have also made various preparations for ‘self-defense’ as well, modifying their tractors accordingly.
