Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra started from Kanyakumari and reached Jalandhar on 15th January 2023. The yatra started from Khalsa College at 3 pm and ended after a 16 km long walk near Hemkund Public School at 6:30 pm. Despite the main aim of the yatra is to bind the people of India together and raise the issues that are unheard of, the march left various Jalandhar locals unhappy. Many people were not happy with the kind of inconvenience that it caused on Sunday.
While speaking to True Scoop, residents of Jalandhar expressed their unhappiness towards the traffic jam caused due to diverted routes along with how the people were treated who came just to get a glimpse of Rahul Gandhi.
A young woman who came to see the Congress leader expressed that she was very disappointed. She said, “is this Bharat Jodo or Bharat Todo Yatra? This is not the way how the common people who came to support him should have been treated.”
Another person who came to support this great initiative was unhappy after a bike ran over his foot because of the large crown that was gathered there. Explaining the incident he said, that the security personnel pushed the whole crowd to one side because of which the person riding the bike lost his balance.
Another group stated that they came to appreciate Rahul Gandhi for picking up the issues that concern the younger generation but stated that there is no point in taking out a march where the security does not even allow the people to meet him and express their problems. They added that if this is how he plans to join everyone together, then that is far from being possible.
A person who was stuck in traffic stated, “it has almost been 40 minutes that I am stuck here because of the diverted routes. He says that he is taking out the march for the common people and raising their problems. Instead of raising the problems, his march is creating one for the locals.”
People in thousands came together near BSF Chowk to support the Congress leader for an initiative like this but some of them went back home in great disappointment after witnessing how the common people were being treated. There is no doubt that security for him was necessary because of the threats received but the treatment that was done with the people who were there to support him was unasked for.
