Signatories of Gupkar Declaration met here at Gupkar based Farooq Abdullah’s residence on Thursday. Jammu Kashmir Congress President Ghulam Ahmed Mir stayed away and so does IAS turned politician Shah Faisal.
Gupkar Declaration was passed on the evening of 4th August 2019, a day before the abrogation of Special Status of Jammu and Kashmir to defend the Special Status.
Those who attended Gupkar Declaration 2.0 meet included Dr Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Sajad Gani Lone, Hasnain Masoodi, Ali Muhammad Sagar, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami, Muzaffar Shah, Javaid Mustafa Mir and others.
After the meeting, National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah spoke to media and announced that Gupkar Declaration will be now called as ‘Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration.’
He said, “our battle is a constitutional battle, we want the government of India to return to the rights they had before August 5 2019.”
Farooq Abdullah further said that signatories will meet in the coming days again to take further course of action.”
