A doctor from Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa has moved a petition in the Punjab and Haryana high court seeking more security for Gurmeet Ram Rahim who is currently serving a 20-year-sentence in Sunaria Jail in Rohtak.
Mohit Gupta in his petition has alleged that the jail administration is denying the rights of a jail inmate to Gurmeet Ram Rahim. He is not allowed to meet anybody as per rules and not even allowed to make phone calls.
The petition said he had sought information on the rights of a jail inmate under the Right To Information(RTI) Act but the same was also denied.
Quoting a jail superintendent driver's father who runs a tea shop outside the jail complex, the petitioner told the court that Gurmeet Ram Rahim is being tortured physically and mentally inside the jail.

According to the petition, the jail is believed to be a high-security zone but nearly a dozen cases of recovery of mobile phones and gang wars have been reported from this jail in the past. He also said dreaded criminals are also being lodged in this jail which is dangerous to Gurmeet Ram Rahim's life.
The petitioner demanded that Gurmeet Ram Rahim be produced in the court. It has also been alleged in the petition that a leader of a political party also pressurised Gurmeet Ram Rahim to announce his support for the party in the Lok Sabha elections.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court is yet to take up this petition for hearing. Earlier, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was denied parole for the agriculture and marriage of his daughter.
