On Wednesday, multiple reports started doing rounds on social media and also many news portals mentioned that India's most-wanted Sikh For Justice (SFJ) chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun died in a car accident in the US. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun's death reports broke the internet as in the past 60 days multiple top Khalistani leaders who were proclaimed terrorists in India died under mysterious circumstances. And Gurpatwant Singh Pannun was head of the Sikh For Justice (SFJ) organization was banned on 10 July 2019 by the Government of India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for its alleged anti-India activities. After Hardeep Nijjar was shot dead by two unidentified assailants in Canada’s Surrey on June 18, Pannu had gone into hiding. After that, supporters of the SFJ attacked Indian Consulate in San Francisco and set it on fire. Not only this, the pro-Khalistani outfit allegedly SFJ announced a rally against the killing of Nijjar in the USA and Canada, however, the poster named Indian diplomats in Canada and openly issued threats against them. However, pro-Khalistan portal Khalsa Today chief stated that Gurpatwant Singh Pannun's death reports are fake and that he is still alive.
Ever since then no confirmation has come on Gurpatwant Singh Pannun's death. However, it is worth noting that Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has not released any video ever since Nijjar has been killed. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is known for issuing open threats against India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Ever since Nijjar was shot dead, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is untraceable. Before Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Paramjit Singh Panjwar, and, Avatar Singh Khanda, in the UK also died under mysterious circumstances. The Pro-Khalistan outfits have accused Indian agencies of killing its leaders abroad, however, India's External Affairs Ministry has not commented anything on the accusations. However, the MEA recently summoned Canadian High Commissioner Cameron MacKay on Monday to convey concerns ahead of protests by pro-Khalistan terrorist outfits outside the Indian High Commission in Ottawa, and two consulates in Toronto and Vancouver on July 8. Lakhwinder Singh Rode
Lakhwinder Singh Rode is a pro-Khalistan leader and a proclaimed terrorist in India. He is also the nephew of Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale. Notably, Punjab Police in its crackdown on Waris Punjab De Chief had revealed that Lakhwinder Singh Rode was the handler and mastermind behind the creation of Amritpal Singh. After being on run for months, Amritpal Singh was arrested by the Punjab Police under the stringent NSA act. As per sources in the known developments, Lakhwinder Singh Rode has been hiding in Germany.
Another name who is involved in anti-India activities is Badhawa Singh. Badhawa Singh is the chief of the oldest but biggest pro-Khalistani outfit named Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). It is said that BKI is the oldest and biggest terror outfit when it comes to the Pro-Khalistan movement. As per sources in the known developments, Badhawa Singh is currently in Lahore, Pakistan.
India, Khalistan and Canada
Recently, Indian Consulate in San Francisco was set on fire and later a video went viral in which it was stated that the supporters of SFJ carried out attack to avenge the death of Hardeep Nijjar, the top leader of the Khalistani Tiger Force (KTF). A poster of Khalistani outfit allegedly of SFJ went viral on social media threatening and naming Indian diplomats in Canada accusing them of killing Nijjar. The poster reads Khalistan Freedom Rally will be held on 8 July at 12.30 pm. The rally is set to start at Great Punjab Business Centre and will end at Indian Embassy in Toronto. Also, the Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma, Consul General Vancouver Manish, and Consul General Toronto Apoorva Srivastava were named in the posters circulated by the extremists, claiming that India was responsible for the killing of Khalistani Hardeep Nijjar.
On this, India had summoned Canadian High Commissioner Cameron MacKay to convey concerns ahead of protests by pro-Khalistan terrorist outfits outside the Indian High Commission in Ottawa, and two consulates in Toronto and Vancouver on July 8. On this, Canada had assured the safety of Indian diplomats ahead of the 'Khalistan Freedom Rally' on July 8. Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joy took to her Twitter handle and issued a statement saying, "Canada takes its obligations under the Vienna Conventions regarding the safety of diplomats very seriously. Canada remains in close contact with Indian officials in light of some of the promotional material circulating online regarding a protest planned for July 8, which are unacceptable."
