On Tuesday, 10th September, Former President Donald Trump, and Vice President Kamala Harris will have a one-on-one debate. This debate is organized just ahead of the US Polls which will be held on 5th November 2024 for electing the next President.
Ahead of the debate between Trump and Harris, the prominent Republicans are reportedly spreading rumors claiming that illegal Haitian immigrants living in Ohio city, are eating pets of their neighbors.
A social media post, without any proof has claimed that Haiti immigrants are stealing pets and consuming them.
Ted Cruz, a Republican senator has posted an image where two cats are hugging each other with fear. The post reads, “Please vote for Trump so Haitian immigrants don't eat us.”
Elon Musk has also supported the campaign and posted a meme related to it. He shared an image of Donald Trump hugging a duck and a cat. The post reads, “Protect our ducks and kittens in Ohio!”
This viral rumor has started spreading after a Springfield Facebook group claimed that a cat was seen hanging from a branch at a Haitian’s home and was being prepped for cooking. The cat belonged to the neighbours of the Haitian immigrants.
In reference to this incident, a campaign account posted, “President Trump will deport migrants who eat pets. Kamala Harris will send them to your town next. Make your choice, America.”
However, there are no claims of the rumour being true. “There have been no credible reports or specific claims of pets being harmed, injured, or abused by individuals within the immigrant community,” said a Spokesperson for the City of Springfield.
Donald Trump’s son has shared a post, blaming Vice President Kamala Harris for these incidents as 3 months ago, she had stopped the Haitian immigrants from getting deported from the country. His post read that now these Haitian Immigrants are sucking up precious resources and destroying Springfield, Ohio.
The campaign of Trump has also sent an email and has targeted Harris's campaign over the Haitian immigrant’s issue. The email reads, “It’s all coming to your city if Kamala Harris is elected in November. It doesn’t have to be this way. Beginning on day one, President Trump will begin the largest mass deportation operation in US history because he will always put America and Americans FIRST.”
