The International Cricket Council (ICC) honoured former Indian captain Anil Kumble during his month in the ICC Hall of Fame.
The international cricket body shared to Instagram, "Next on #ICCHallOfFame we have one of the greatest bowlers of all time, India spinner Anil Kumble. The third-leading wicket-taker in Test cricket.”
Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara remembered some of his experiences playing against the legendary Indian leg-spinner in a video posted on the International Cricket Council's (ICC) website. "Kumble has given me a few sleepless nights," he said.
"He was not your orthodox leg-spinner. This big, tall gangly bowler running in and bowling with a very high arm action. It was not at all easy to get him away for runs," Sangakkara added.
Anil Kumble represented India in 132 Tests, taking 619 wickets and 35 five-wicket hauls. He also appeared in 271 One-Day Internationals for Team India, taking 337 wickets.
Anil Kumble is the third highest wicket-taker in Test matches all-time. He is the man behind Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka and Shane Warne of Australia.
The International Cricket Council has unveiled ICC Hall of Fame month on Instagram to honour some of cricket's greatest players who have gone down in history as true legends. They began the festivities by remembering former New Zealand captain Martin Crowe's accomplishments in the sport, which occurred earlier this month.
