Recently, American singer and songwriter Halsey revealed that she has been diagnosed with a painful disorder endometriosis. In such a condition, tissue that normally lines the inside of your uterus known as the endometrium, grows outside your uterus.
The 24-year-old took to her twitter handle and tweeted, “I have endometriosis. I’ve had 3 miscarriages, 4 surgeries, pretty much in pain every day of my life.” However, Peter Weiss a doctor who treats women with endometriosis extensively stated that it wasn’t the cause of her miscarriages. Suffering from endometriosis makes getting pregnant all the more difficult.
“The biggest risk of women with endometriosis is just getting pregnant in the first place. We are seeing that women with endometriosis who get pregnant do have a higher risk of miscarriage and they also have a higher risk of complications in pregnancy. They have a higher risk of bleeding, of preterm delivery, ectopic pregnancy which is where the embryo grows outside the uterus and typically in the fallopian tube, and will sometimes need a C-section and have a baby that of a lower birth rate”, underlined the doctor.

It is not only Halsey who is suffering from endometriosis. Many other celebrities have opened up about their disease. Padma Lakshmi, food writer, actress and model was diagnosed with the same after 23 long years. The ‘Shall We Dance’ actress Susan Sarandon and many others have been diagnosed with same disease.
