Israel announces 'Gaza Siege'

Talking about Israel's response, the Jewish country has vowed to reduce Hamas sites in Gaza to "rubble". It has raised concern in the United Nations. Israel's Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said Israel would impose a "complete siege" on the long-blockaded enclave. The impact on its 2.3 million people will be "no electricity, no food, no water, no gas -- it's all closed"

As a result, Hamas has threatened Israel to kill the people it took as hostages during their invasion. "Every targeting of our people without warning will be met with the execution of one of the civilian hostages," the armed wing of Hamas has warned as reported. Hamas further claimed that Israel airstrikes killed four of their citizens who were held as hostages in Gaza.

Talking about the death toll, about 1,600 civilians and soldiers have died on both sides in the onslaught that began Saturday with a barrage of rockets fired towards Israel from Gaza. This includes over 900 in Israel.
