In yet another incident, a bomb has been recovered from Punjab’s Amritsar. Reportedly a hand grenade-like bomb was discovered in Amritsar's posh neighbourhood of Ranjit Avenue today after which the bomb disposal squad is rushed to the spot.
Allegedly, a sweeper was cleaning the road when he found a hand-grenade like object and got suspicious following which he immediately informed the police around 8:45 am.
The bomb disposal squad is still investigating and has not discovered more explosives yet. Meanwhile, the residential area has been seized by the police.
“A hand grenade-like bomb was discovered in Amritsar's posh neighbourhood of Ranjit Avenue on August 13. The police arrived and took charge of the area, and the bomb disposal squad has been rushed to the spot. The squad will try to dispose the bomb once the people are evacuated," said DCP Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar
Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, on the other hand, is scheduled to visit Amritsar for the Independence day celebration in the state. Recovery of a bomb at this time makes the incident more sensational.

Earlier, Amritsar police had recovered a tiffin bomb, five hand grenades and three detonators from the area near the Pakistani border. Following the discovery of these explosives, a warning was issued throughout Punjab.
