Actress Kajol turns 47 today. Kajol, an unconventional beauty who rose to fame in the 1990s as a superstar, is still one of Bollywood's most varied actresses. She immortalised various roles on film, ranging from girl-next-door types to the stereotypical Indian woman. The actress, who was a force to be reckoned with three decades ago, is still associated with high-quality performances. Six Filmfare awards are added to her illustrious career.

The Government of India has awarded the Padma Shri Award to 'Queen of Bollywood' Kajol, the country's fourth highest civilian honour. Let's take a look back at some of her most Unforgettable performances in honour of her birthday:


DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE (1995)


This film is recognised as one of the best romantic films created in Bollywood, having played for about 1000 weeks at Mumbai's Maratha Mandir. The film, as well as the performers' performances, become cult classics. Simran, played by Kajol, is an innocent girl who falls madly in love with Raj, played by Shah Rukh Khan.

Simran defies her father to marry the love of her life, despite the fact that the road is loaded with obstacles. This is still considered one of Kajol's best performances.


KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM (2001)


For her portrayal in this multi-starrer, she got the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Anjali, played by Kajol, was a normal Punjabi girl. Karan Johar did not tell the actress that she had to speak in the language a lot throughout her narration.


Regardless, Kajol's portrayal of the loud-mouthed Anjali wowed the audience. Her on-screen chemistry with SRK is incredible.


KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI (1998)


Anjali Sharma, played by Kajol, became a social icon. Anjali is head over heels in love with SRK's Rahul, her best friend from college. When she finds that he considers her a friend and is in love with Tina, she lets it go. Kajol and Shah Rukh have become the most popular romantic couple. They appeared in Baazigar and Karan Arjun as well.

GUPT: THE HIDDEN TRUTH (1997)

Kajol accepted the challenge of playing a villain and received critical and fan acclaim for her performance. Her performance in the category of Best Actor In A Negative Role earned her a Filmfare Award. She was convincing as the obsessive girlfriend who would kill for her guy in the film, and she gave a spine-chilling performance as Isha Dewan.


MY NAME IS KHAN (2010)


The combination of Kajol, SRK, and Karan joined together to make a successful film. When My Name Is Khan was released, it was met with critical acclaim. For the film, Kajol won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. In the film, she plays the role of Mandira, a hairdresser. A mother of two, Kajol portrayed the role of a hands-on mother beautifully.
