India on November 14 celebrates the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as Children’s Day. Pandit Nehru was popular among children and was fondly called as ‘Chacha Nehru’.
Before the death of Pandit Nehru, Children’s Day or Bal Diwas in India was celebrated on November 20 that used to coincide with Universal Children's Day by the United Nations.
After Nehru died in 1964, a resolution was passed in the Parliament and it was collectively decided that Children's Day in India will be observed on his birthday.
The Children’s Day is annually celebrated to spread awareness on children’s rights, care and education.
Pandit Nehru considered children the real strength of a nation and foundation of society.
Chacha Nehru said, “Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow.”
“The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country,” he said.
Growing up is tough, keep the little child and spirit alive. Make memories and enjoy your childhood.
