Former Indian cricketer turned commentator Harbhajan Singh on Sunday came under the scanner of social media after his remarks on Anushka Sharma, and Athiya Shetty did not go well with fans. Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and Athiya Shetty attended the India vs Australia Cricket World Cup 2023 final match to support the Men In Blue and their husband. When Team India was batting, Harbhajan Singh raised a question on a lighter note about the understanding of Anushka and Athiya for cricket.

While doing commentary in Hindi, Harbhajan Singh was heard saying, "This is what I was thinking if they are talking about cricket or films..Because I don’t know how much they understand cricket." Harbhajan's comment on Anushka and Athiya sparked a massive outrage and many termed his remarks as misogynistic and sexist.

A user wrote, "Harbhajan Singh, made a rather 'misogynistic' remark where he questioned the actresses' understanding of cricket. Harbhajan, during the commentary, said, "Aur yeh main soch raha tha ki baat cricket ki ho rahi hai ya filmon ki. Kyunki filmon ke barein mein toh janta nahi kitni samajh hogi..Apologise @harbhajan_singh."

Another user wrote, "What sexis comment in this??His wife doesn't know about cricket and she is also from Bollywood hence he said same in fun..But Like Alwaya Fake feminism."

“Shayad filmon ki baatein hori hai ya cricket ki, pata nahi cricket ki kitni samajh hogi” The audacity of the commentators to pass a sexist comment on such a broadcast. Shame, wrote another user.
