Trouble seems to be mounting upon the Pakistan Cricket Team after the PAKvsUSA T20 World Cup match. Pakistani speedster Haris Rauf has been accused of ball tampering during Pakistan vs USA T20 World Match in Dallas. US cricketer Rusty Theron on Thursday took to his official X handle and asked the ICC to look into Haris Raf Ball Tampering scandal. Notably, Rusty Theron is an international cricketer who used to play for South Africa before he switched to the USA. Theron has also played in the IPL for teams like Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.
Rusty Theron on his X handle wrote, "@ICC are we just going to pretend Pakistan aren't scratching the hell out of this freshly changed ball? Reversing the ball that's just been changed 2 overs ago? You can literally see Harris Rauf running his thumb nail over the ball at the top of his mark."
Reacting to the claims, a user wrote, "There is hardly any reverse swing now in an ODI game and they are reversing in a T20I game....you have got to be kidding me.....Last night when I tuned in late and they are discussing reverse swing in an T20I game, thought they must have been joking...!!"
Another user pointed, "Even waqar younis was asked the same question on live commentary to which he said i dont know."
For the unversed, after the USA was in a commanding position with 103-1, Pakistani cricketers complained to the umpires about the condition of the ball. Hence, on-field umpires changed the ball, and just after that Haris Rauf bamboozled Andries Gous. The ball suddenly started to reverse and it was also acknowledged by Haris Rauf when one of his deliveries went to the keeper. Notably, it was the change of ball that helped Pakistan make a comeback in the match.
However, in the end, it was the USA who held their nerves and defeated Pakistan in the Super Over. It was the USA's first-ever victory in the T20 international against Pakistan.
What did Babar Azam say on defeat against the USA?
During the post-match presentation, Babar Azam said, "First 6 overs while batting we didn’t capitalise. Back-to-back wickets always put you on the back foot, as a batter you need to step up and build partnerships. We were not up to the mark in the first 6 overs with the ball. Our spinners also did not take wickets in the middle overs so these things cost us. Very hard, all credit to USA, they played better than us in all three departments. Little bit of moisture in the pitch, it was also two-paced. As a professional, you need to assess the conditions."
