Amid escalated infighting in the Congress Punjab unit over a new PPCC chief, AICC general secretary in-charge of Punjab affairs Harish Rawat has arrived in Chandigarh for a meeting with CM Capt Amarinder Singh on the PPCC and Cabinet revamp.
The meeting is scheduled for 12pm and will take place at Capt Amarinder Singh's Siswan farmhouse.
This development came after Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday ahead of Sidhu’s meeting, sent his OSD Narinder Bhambri to meet Sonia Gandhi with a ‘sealed letter’, expressing apprehension over the likely appointment of Sidhu, arguing that it could have an adverse impact on party’s poll prospects.
Meanwhile, earlier, Harish Rawat had said it may take some time but to balance the equation in the state, the party is working on the formula to appoint Sidhu in a prominent position, while asserting that Amarinder Singh would be the CM face of the party for the upcoming elections.
While no official announcement has been made so far, sources say Navjot Singh Sidhu is likely to get the post of party's state head with two working presidents in his team, and Amarinder Singh will lead the party into the elections.
