Haryana Govt directs schools to suspend physical classes amid rising AQI; 'Assess situation as per GRAP'

Haryana's neighbour Delhi has already enforced GRAP stage 3 and has suspended physical classes for the safety of students.

Haryana AQI, Haryana Schools Closed, Haryana Air Pollution: Haryana Government on Saturday directed schools to suspend its physical classes for students up to Class 5. The Haryana Government's decision to shut down schools came in the backdrop of rising Air Pollution in the state. Haryana's neighbour Delhi has already enforced GRAP stage 3 and has suspended physical classes for the safety of students. 

A memo from the Directoriate School Education is present with True Scoop News. The official memo that has been released reads, "On the subject cited above, I have been directed to inform you that the Government has decided that the concerned Deputy Commissioners shall assess the prevailing situation (as per the GRAP) in view of the severe AQI levels in Delhi and surrounding regions and may discontinue physical classes and issue necessary directions for holding online classes for upto Class 5th in the schools (Govt. and Private) in the interest of the health and safety of the students. The assessment for rural and urban areas of the concerned districts may be carried out separately."

Multiple cities of Haryana remained from poor to very poor category on Saturday. Ambala's AQI was 240 as per CPCB that was updated at 5 pm. It means the Air Quality was poor. Karnal's AQI too was in the poor category.
