The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, which is taking credit for the security cut as an action on VIP culture, has suffered a major setback. The order to reduce security has been put on hold by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The HC has ordered a review of the security while directing the government to restore it.
The Punjab Police were instructed by the High Court to make this decision only after speaking with the state and federal intelligence agencies. Concern over the security leak was also raised by the High Court. According to the High Court, numerous people are put at risk by the information's release. Mischievous elements can take the wrong advantage of this.
Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was killed on 29 May. The Punjab government had reduced his security a day before. 2 out of 4 commands were withdrawn from them. After this, questions arose about the government and why did they reduce the security of Moosewala. Why was this information made public if security was about to be reduced?
“Action against ministers is not political vendetta,” claims Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann
Mann government had started security reduction even before coming to power. Security was reduced four times before Moosewala was killed in which mostly Congress leaders, religious figures, retired and serving police officers and other celebrities were there. Information about this was repeatedly made public. After which 45 petitions against Aam Aadmi Party's action on 'VIP culture' reached the High Court.
