In a heartbreaking incident, a newborn was thrown into a filthy pond in a large pan in Jalandhar district of Punjab. The newborn was discovered by locals after which an FIR was filed against the unknown.
The incident took place at Bandala Manjki village in Jalandhar. Reportedly, a few locals were on a morning walk when they noticed a pan by the shore of the water body. When they looked inside, there was a body of a newborn.
They immediately informed Sarbjit Singh, the Sarpanch of the village.
Mr. Singh arrived on the spot as soon as he received the information. Then he contacted the police at Noormahal police station, and ASI Avtar Lal and his team appeared on the scene to investigate.
Police have lodged a complaint against unidentified individuals and are looking at CCTV footage from the area.

The body has been taken into custody by police and is sent for postmortem.
No suspects have been identified so far. However, the police believe the heinous crime is committed by an unmarried woman as this is a case of foeticide.
Unfortunately, such cases are not rare in the city of Jalandhar. According to media sources, the number of such incidents is increasing in Jalandhar. Despite the fact that the police always lodge an FIR, the guilty are never apprehended, which encourages such crimes.
Last month, a newborn girl was found dead in the Badshahpur village of Jalandhar. Besides, a fetus was discovered from drainage near the Trauma ward of the civil hospital.
