While the entire India is at rage over rape & murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar hospital, another disturbing incident has come to the fore. A hidden camera was found in the girls' hostel washroom of an engineering college in Gudivada of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh. Hundreds of students started protesting against the Andhra Pradesh college administration on Thursday as soon as the information was revealed.
As per reports, videos of the female students were being recorded through the hidden camera which were later leaked and sold to some other students. According to the police, the number of leaked photos and videos is about 300. In the Andhra Pradesh girls hostel video leak case, the police have arrested Vijay Kumar, a B.Tech final year student of Gudivada's Gudivada College of Engineering. His phone and laptop have also been seized.
As per reports, Gudivada College of Engineering was informed about this a week ago, but the college did not take any action on it. On Thursday, the girl students started raising slogans in protest. On receiving information about the case, the police reached the spot, interrogated the accused, and arrested him.
Some reports have also claimed that a girl from the college helped Vijay hide the camera in the girls' toilet. The police or the college administration have not revealed who that girl was. However, a girl's picture with Vijay is going viral on social media. The girl is said to be Vijay's girlfriend. Vijay was blackmailing her. He first made a video of his girlfriend in the OYO room. Then he and his friends blackmailed her to install the camera. On learning about the incident, CM Chandrababu Naidu ordered an investigation into the matter.
