The India-Pakistan ODI World Cup match could be played a day earlier. The game between the two sides is scheduled on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. But as Navratri festival begins on the same day, the security agency has proposed changing the date or location of the match. According to media sources, this match can now take place on October 14th.
BCCI Secretary Jai Shah, on the other side, has scheduled an emergency meeting of the State Association of World Cup Venues for Thursday, July 27. It is expected that a decision on changing the new date or location of the match will be made during the meeting. A BCCI official said, “We are looking into different venues and will make a decision soon. According to the security services, as the high-profile match between India and Pakistan is scheduled for Navratri, thousands of supporters are expected to travel to Ahmedabad for the game. The city would get over-crowded because of both Navratri and the match.
If the India-Pakistan match is moved to October 14, the England-Afghanistan match might be played on October 15. According to the schedule, there are two matches on October 14th. The first match will be played between New Zealand and Bangladesh in Bengaluru, and the second between England and Afghanistan in Delhi.
The match in Delhi will begin at 2 p.m., as will the Indo-Pak encounter, which is why the date of this match can be adjusted. As of now, there will be no changes to the scheduling or location of the remaining matches.
The first match between Team India and Australia is scheduled for October 8 in Chennai, followed by a match against Afghanistan on October 11 in Delhi. Pakistan, on the other hand, will play matches against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka in Hyderabad on October 6 and 12. That instance, if there is an Indo-Pak match on October 14, India will have two days rest whereas Pakistan will only get one day rest.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the World Cup schedule on June 27. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host five matches. The tournament begins here on October 5 with a match between England and New Zealand. Along with the India-Pakistan encounter on October 15, this stadium will host two more league games. The event final will also be place in Ahmedabad on November 19.
If the venue or date of the match is altered at the request of the security agency, fans who have made travel arrangements in Ahmedabad may encounter significant difficulties. Ticket sales for the tournament's matches have yet to begin, but fans have begun booking hotel rooms in Ahmedabad. Thousands cricket fans from India and beyond booked hotel rooms as soon as the ICC revealed the itinerary. As expected, hotel owners raised the rent. Seeing this, fans reserved rooms in the hospitals for the dates around October 15th. According to medical employees, people have been booking rooms under the guise of a full body check-up.
