In a major development, the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government on Friday suspended a senior IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh named Naveen Tanwar. Naveen Tanwar is an IAS officer of the 2019 batch and last month he was sentenced to three years of prison for pulling out a filmy 'Munna Bhai MBBS' act. As per reports, Naveen Tanwar allegedly took the bank clerk recruitment exam on someone else's behalf. In the movie Munnai Bhai, a similar kind of case was showcased when a Doctor appeared to give a medical entrance exam for a goon named Munna portrayed by Sanjay Dutt.
As per reports, Judicial Magistrate Shivam Verma of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) fined Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Tanwar Rs 50,000 but he was released from custody after the CBI court granted him bail. In this case, the Law Department clarified that if an employee or officer remains in jail for 48 hours, then he should automatically be considered 'suspended'.
IAS Naveen Tanwar was posted as ADC of Chamba. After being suspended, he has been posted at the headquarters in Shimla Secretariat. He has been asked to report to the Personnel Department.
Naveen Tanwar Case
On December 13, 2014, Naveen Tanwar, a resident of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, came to the Ideal Institute of Technology, Govindpuram, Ghaziabad to appear for the clerk recruitment examination. Reports suggest that the examination was for the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) clerk recruitment. CBI then arrested Naveen while giving the paper in place of Amit Singh.
It is pertinent to mention here that Naveen was caught in 2014 while giving papers in place of others, while in 2019 he got selected for IAS. When Naveen was arrested, he was preparing for the paper. After this, he was selected for UPSC.
