Shimla: On Tuesday, Himachal Pradesh's prominent tourist spots Shimla, Manali, Kufri, Narkanda and Dalhousie woke up to a blanket of fresh snow, turning the hill stations more picturesque.
The higher reaches have been recording snowfall since Monday night, while rain and thunderstorm lashed downstream areas, ending the dry spell.
Snowfall was also recorded in Mashobra, Fagu, Theog, Kharapather and Khirki, disrupting vehicular traffic in the area, weather office said.
Tourist resort Kufri, Manali and Narkanda recorded ten to 15 cm snowfall, much to the delight of tourists.
Vehicular traffic on the Hindustan- Tibet National road, between Kufri and Narkanda, was diverted via Basantpur as the former was closed due to accumulation of snow.
Tribal district Kinnaur, Lahaul & Spiti and Chamba experienced heavy snowfall, blocking the road and communication lines in the region.
