Covid-19 effect: Home Ministry extends e-visa, visa of stranded foreigners till April 30

The Home Ministry has extended till April 30 the consular service to foreigners stranded in India due to travel restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The government has granted consular services on a gratis basis to foreign nationals.

Consular assistance is help and advice provided by the diplomatic agents of a country to citizens of that country who are living or travelling overseas. The diplomats may be honorary consuls, or members of the country's diplomatic service.

The foreign nationals whose visas have expired between February 1 and April 30 midnight would be extended till April 30 midnight.

The facility will be provided to the foreigner on making an online application. The announcement made on March 28 has been clarified to remove confusion if any, according to a Home Ministry official.
