'Foundational catalyst of rape': Urvashi Rautela fumes at media over coverage of her hospitalization due to 'minor cut'

Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela showed her disappointment towards the Indian Media after a news article mentioned her getting trolled on Instagram.

Bollywood actress and model Urvashi Rautela posted a story showcasing her disappointment towards the Indian media on 22nd August regarding the news article that informed about her getting trolled on Instagram by the netizens. 

The Bollywood actress linked the news coverage to the increasing number of rape cases. She blamed the Indian media for escalating the culture of disrespect and playing the role of a catalyst for the continued occurrence of heinous acts like rape in our society. 

Urvashi Rautela, a 30-year-old Indian actress, was admitted to the hospital on 21st August. She posted a video of her from the hospital where she was wearing an oxygen mask, sitting on a sofa, reading something. She revealed a cut on her finger on Instagram and wrote, “PRAY FOR ME”.

The actress got injured during the shoot of an action sequence for Nandamuri Balakrishna's upcoming Telugu movie NBK 109 in Hyderabad. She was hospitalized on 21st August and her team reported that she suffered a ‘terrible’ fracture on the finger.

However, she started getting trolled by the netizens for getting admitted because of a ‘minor’ cut. Netizens continued to do harsh comments on her post. One of the netizens commented, “First Indian woman to get admitted in the hospital after a small cut on her finger.”

Urvashi criticized the Indian media for covering this story. She posted a story on Instagram saying, “I am deeply disappointed by the Indian media’s response, which, instead of offering wishes for a speedy recovery, crosses all lines. Such egregious insensitivity perpetuates an escalating culture of disrespect, serving as a foundational catalyst for the continued occurrence of heinous acts like #rape within our society.”

The story she posted had a screenshot of the news article in the background. She wrote the word ‘RAPE’ in block letters and criticized the media for being insensitive.

Urvashi’s Instagram story displayed her frustration towards the Indian Media. She believed that the coverage of her being trolled by the netizens was highly insensitive and disrespectful. She slammed the media outlets and blamed them for the increasing rate of crimes against women in society. 

Urvashi wrote, "I am deeply disappointed by the Indian media's response, which, instead of offering wishes for a speedy recovery, crosses all lines. Such egregious insensitivity perpetuates an escalating culture of disrespect, serving as a foundational catalyst for the continued occurrence of heinous acts like #rape within our society."
