Hours after taking the oath, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin announced Rs 2000 Covid pandemic time relief for people of the state. Along with this, a cut in Aavin milk rate and free travel for women in state-run buses was also announced by CM on May 7.
These were the promises made by MK Stalin’s party DMK ahead of the April 6 Assembly elections. Soon after taking over as CM, MK Stalin started working on the promises made by his party and also announced bringing covid treatment in private hospitals under a government insurance scheme.
The statement from CMO said, “To implement that, the Chief Minister has signed the order to provide the first installment of Rs 2000 in May itself at Rs 4,153.69 crore, covering 2,0767,000 ration card holders.”

Earlier, ahead of Assembly elections 2021, the party also promised of providing Rs. 4000 for rice ration card holders to help the citizens who were affected due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Reducing the price of Aavin milk which is a state-run milk supply, its price is now Rs 3 with effect from May 16. Also from May 8 onwards, women are allowed free of cost travel in all ordinary fare city buses operated by State Transport Corporation. The amount allocated for this purpose is Rs 1200 crore.
Stalin had promised to solve the issues in the petitions received by him in 100 days of taking over. To fulfill this he has approved constituting a department to implement the Chief Minister in Your Constituency scheme.
On May 7, MK Stalin took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, which was administered by Governor Banwarilal Purohit.
