Now, the question arises whether Harrenhal Castle is real or not, and if real where is Harrenhal Castle? Below is all about Harrenhal Castle and its importance in House of the Dragon 2.

Where is real-life Harrenhal Castle?

While the makers have used animations and graphics to show the cursed state of Harrenhal Castle, True Scoop News tried to reverse image search about the place. In result, it was revealed that the 'real-life' Harrenhal Castle is none other than Dunluce Castle situated in Northern Ireland. As per the information available, Dunluce Castle is a now-ruined medieval castle in Northern Ireland. It is the seat of Clan MacDonnell. It is located on the edge of a basalt outcropping in County Antrim (between Portballintrae and Portrush), and is accessible via a bridge connecting it to the mainland. The castle is surrounded by extremely steep drops on either side, which may have been an important factor to the early Christians and Vikings who were drawn to this place where an early Irish fort once stood.

Why Harrenhal Castle is important in Game of Thrones & House of the Dragon?

Harrenhal Castle is the largest castle in the Seven Kingdoms under Kings Landing. Daemon has visited Harrenhal Castle to assemble an army of the Riverlands' 40,000-some soldiers and use that army to march on King's Landing.  As per the the books written by George RR Martin, Harrenhal Castle is situated in Westeros and just north of the massive lake known as the Gods Eye. Harrenhal is a key tactical location in the Seven Kingdoms. Notably, it is written that Daemon & Aegon will lock horns along with their respective dragons in the battle above Gods Eye.
