The much-awaited movie Amar Singh Chamkila was released on April 12, 2024, on Netflix, and ever since then fans and critics have been praising Diljit Dosanjh. Created by Rockstar fame film-maker Imtiaz Ali, Amar Singh Chamkila features Diljit Dosanjh and Prineeti Chopra in the lead roles. While Diljit plays the character of Punjabi folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila, Parineeti plays the character of his wife Amarjot Kaur. Netflix's Amar Singh Chamkila is a true story based on the rise and events leading to the assassination of the Punjabi singer & his wife in 1988. On Saturday, the starcast of Amar Singh Chamkila attended The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix.
During the show, host & comedian Kapil Sharma asked Imtiaz Ali why he cast Diljit Dosanjh in Amar Singh Chamkila. Kapil pointed out that neither Imtiaz knew Diljit nor did he ever work with him, so how and why did he rope the Kinni Kinni singer? In response, Imtiaz Ali dropped Shah Rukh Khan's name.
Imtiaz said, "Mujhe Shah Rukh Khan ne bola tha ki agar is mulk main sabse achha koi actor hain, toh paa ji hain. (Shah Rukh Khan once said that if there is someone who is best in terms of acting India is none other than Diljit)". This statement made Parineeti exclaim, “Wow!” and the audience cheered loudly. Unable to believe this, Dosanjh joked, “Shayad mood main honge. (Maybe he was in the mood)."
Imtiaz further stated that if Diljit would have denied to work in the film, he would not have made Amar Singh Chamkila movie.
