According to social media marketing agency Hopper HQ, Cristiano Ronaldo has topped Instagram's rich list, costing advertisers a whopping $1.6 million (£1.2 million) each post on his account. With 308 million Instagram followers, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is a power to be reckoned with.
The Hopper HQ firm takes into account factors such as average engagement, how quickly celebrities post and their number of followers to assess the highest-paid players on Instagram.No player near Ronaldo
According to the Hopper HQ report, there is no player near Ronaldo, the 5-time Ballon d'Or winner. Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson is at number two in this case. Johnson, who stars in the Fast and Furious film franchise, has 250 million Instagram followers and can earn just over $1.52 million (£1 million) each post, while pop artist Ariana Grande ($1.51 million) is third on the list.
Virat Kohli is the only Indian player
Virat Kohli, the captain of the Indian cricket team, is ranked 19th in the world, earning $680K per post.
The only other athlete in the top ten is Lionel Messi, who became a free agent yesterday night after his Barcelona contract expired. With 224 million followers, the Argentine may charge up to $1.1 million (£798,011) every post, putting him in seventh place.
Other than Messi, football stars who are named in this list are David Beckham, Ronaldinho, Ibrahimovic, Gareth Bale and Mohamed Salah.Neymar ($824,000), a forward for Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil, is the 16th highest-paid athlete on the list.
