An infant, just 5 months old is suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy since her birth. It is a rare genetic condition in which the patient suffers loss of their skeletal muscles, necessary for movement. The medical treatment of Tira Kamat requires Rs 22 crore but her parents could not afford the money.
Kamat's parents turned to crowdfunding. Many people from across the planet helped them by donating money to them. Now they have generated nearly Rs 16 crore for the treatment of their child. They say it reaffirmed their faith in humanity.
The union government also waived off Rs 6 crore as taxes. Priyanka and Mihir Kamat, the parent of the infant have took to social networking to arrange money for the treatment of their child. Moreover, they also sought help from Impact Guru. It is a crowdfunding website.

The parents also thanked donors. While talking with NDTV, they said they had planned so many things at the time of her birth but the rare genetic disease changed everything. Devendra Fadnavis, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra also appreciated the government of India for helping the parents and child by waving off taxes.
