Jalandhar: With 100 percent clean drinking water access to the villages; Har Ghar Pani Har Ghar Safai program is yielding promising results in the district. Village Ismailpur in Mehatpur development block has witnessed immense success as all the houses of the village were provided with the functional tap water connections.
Divulging the details, Junior Engineer Gurmeet Singh said that a project at a cost of Rs. 4.15 lakh was initiated in the village to improve the clean water access to villagers. He further mentioned that a slew of works were undertaken under the project including installation of disinfection unit which helped in cleanliness of drinking water. Singh said that a chlorinator was installed at the water reservoir so that every single drop of water could be chlorinated before its release. He stated that a number of new connections were also installed in the village besides establishing of barbed wire fencing, polls, panel board, plinth protection, and automatic on-off switch. He added that two schools were also provided with functional tap water connections by laying new pipelines.

The JE said that the department of water supply and sanitation was working round the clock to ensure clean drinking water in all the villages. He said that similar projects were undergoing in other villages, where new tap water connections were being issued by the department. He said that with switching to tap bases chlorinated clean drinking water a large number of villages have eliminated the contaminated drinking water problem in the district.
Lauding the state government’s efforts to provide clean drinking water to the rural households, Balwinder Singh a resident of the village said that the project has proved to be a boon for the village as it has eliminated the problem of contaminated drinking water from the area by promoting hygiene and cleanliness.
