In the 13th over, RR were on 123 for 4 when Parag joined skipper Sanju Samson in the middle. The highly-rated youngster got right to work, hitting some spectacular shots to keep the chase alive. In no time, he crossed one four and three sixes before being undone by a short delivery from India star Mohammed Shami.
After scoring 25 runs on just 11 balls, Parag walked off the field. His dismissal was a setback for RR, as Rahul Tewatia and Chris Morris were unable to provide adequate support to Samson. The RR captain battled alone at one end, scoring a stunning century on his captaincy debut, but it was in vain.
After Ben Stokes was dismissed for a duck in the first over, Samson walked out to bat. He kept his ground from there, only being dismissed on the final ball of the match when he attempted to hit a six to win the game for his side. RR needed 5 runs on the final ball to pull off a miraculous victory, but their captain could only miscue it to the long-off fielder. Samson scored 119 points on 63 balls. He hit 12 fours and seven sixes in his innings.
Riyan Parag Criticizes himself
