Veteran journalist and anchor Rajdeep Sardesai and BJP's IT Cell head Amit Malviya on Thursday got involved in a heated debate during a live television over 'Godi media' remarks. Indians on Thursday were glued to news channels and social media in order to find out the election results of five states. While BJP won in 4 states, AAP created history in Punjab. Amidst the poll results, India Today anchor Rajdeep Sardesai and BJP's IT Cell Amit Malviya got involved in a heated debate after he accused the journalist of showing a faulty exit poll in order to make the win of the Saffron party questionable by the political parties and the people of India.
The heated argument between Rajdeep Sardesai and Amit Malviya took place during a live show on Thursday at India Today. Rajdeep Sardesai and Amit Malviya's heated debate took place on-air and therefore the video of their argument soon went viral on social media. In the heated argument, Rajdeep Sardesai says, "Read the article where I predicted BJP will win. I don't fall into your Godi media that doesn't mean i fall onto the other side. I suggest you read the article it's in English, very simply written where I say BJP has a clear lead in UP. I challenge any of your Godi media whoever say that the opposition is leading rather than the BJP is leading."
Rajdeep Sardesai went onto say, "That's the difference between the people you patronize and the journalism I do. I started journalism when you were probably in school. So, please with do regards I wish you well."
Following that BJP's IT Cell head Amit Malviya gives it back to Rajdeep Sardesai and points out his interview with Sonia Gandhi. Malviya says, "Well, Rajdeep as far as Godi media is concerned the people whose Godi (Lap) you want to sit in does not have the people mandate. As far as your journalism is concerned people should watch your interview of Sonia Gandhi and what it looks like they will know."
While Amit Malviya was c ountering Rajdeep, other anchors jumped in and started telling the BJP IT Cell to accept the win graciously and not make any personal attack.
