On the completion of the 1000th episode of KBC recently, Amitabh Bachchan got emotional while telling the circumstances in which he chose to host KBC (Kaun Banega crorepati). His daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda and granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda joined him on the 1000th episode of KBC. On being asked by his daughter how he felt on this occasion, he got emotional and told her that it had been 21 years. He had started hosting the game show in 2000.
He further said that he was not getting any film projects at that time and was very helpless. When he got the offer to host the show, he faced criticism from many people on account that going from big screen to small screen would harm his image and he may not get any projects further from the film industry. Explaining the adverse circumstances he had to go through, the Shahenshah of Bollywood broke down into tears.
He further apprised that even though he was getting a lot of negative responses from his close ones, he decided to host the show in 2000 and when the first episode of KBC was broadcast, the kind of positive response he got from the people was overwhelming.
Every day I learned something unique from every new contestant and it was the best thing about hosting KBC said the legendary actor after watching a quick montage of the glimpses of the show from 2000 -21(showing clips of the contestants who had won jackpots).
Amitabh Bachan has been hosting KBC since 2000. At present, the show is broadcasting its 13th season. The legendary actor has hosted all the seasons of the show except for the 3rd season in which he was replaced by Shah Rukh Khan as Amitabh Bachchan was facing a medical emergency in 2007.
