Renu Raj hails from Kerala
Renu Raj received his early education from St. Teresa's Higher Secondary School in Kottayam, Kerala and then studied medicine at the Government Medical College, Kottayam.
Left doctorate UPSC exam
According to the report of UPSC Pathshala, Renu Raj gave the UPSC exam in the year 2014 with a doctorate and became an IAS officer by securing the second rank in the first attempt.
Renu's father is a retired government employee and her mother is a housewife. Both Renu's sisters and her husband are doctors by profession.
Had a dream of becoming an IAS since childhood
Renu Raj wanted to become an IAS officer since childhood. When she was working as a surgeon and then decided to become an IAS officer because she wanted to do something for the common people which would make their life easier.
Why did you give up the UPSC exam?
Renu Raj had told in the interview, 'I thought that being a doctor, she could have helped 50 or 100 patients, but as a civil service officer, her one decision would benefit thousands of people will get. After that, I decided to give the UPSC exam.
Renu prepared like this with a doctor
When Renu Raj became a UPSC topper, she was still working as a doctor. Renu says that since 2013, she used to study for 3-6 hours every day for the UPSC exam.
Along with the practice of medicine, she did this for six-seven months. After that, she decided to do full-time preparation. Although after the Mains exam, she again started her medical practice and for this she had to reduce her study hours by three-four hours, but she did not let it affect her preparation.
Wedding on April 28
Meanwhile, Medical Services Corporation Managing Director Shriram Venkataraman and Alappuzha Collector Renu Raj IAS are getting married.
They informed their IAS friends about their decision to get married through WhatsApp. Sriram Venkataraman and Renuraj have informed their friends that they are getting married this week in Ernakulam on April 28th.
