Swedish furniture retailer IKEA has now launched its online delivery services in the Delhi NCR region, with sales commencing on March 1. This step has been taken after seven years of entering the Indian market.
Along with this, the furniture retailer has also expanded its online delivering services to nine North Indian cities, including Agra, Prayagraj, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Ludhiana and Varanasi.
Retail services from manufacturers can be enjoyed virtually, and people from these cities can order products through the manufacturer's website, application, and shop-by-phone services.
Following this announcement, a LinkedIn post was shared by the chief executive officer and chief sustainability officer of IKEA India - Susanne Pulverer, who mentioned, “My heart is full of joy and excitement as we announce our entry into the North of India. This is a critical piece in our journey in the country, and we at Ikea aim to be the No. 1 retailer in India’s largest home furnishings market.”

According to the official statement shared by IKEA officials, customers will enjoy services like assembly, installation, and remote design, along with the purchase service.
Hybrid model of expansion -
IKEA will continue to follow its hybrid omnichannel model of expansion, which means the company will start its online sales before launching or opening its physical store in the region. According to the reports, the company is planning to open its physical store in Gurugram in 2026 and in Noida in 2028.
Highlighting the delivery procedure in Delhi, IKEA outlined that it has deployed as many as 50 electric vehicles to make deliveries in Delhi-NCR. An anonymous spokesperson for the company mentioned, “Close to 100,000 customers from Delhi-NCR are already part of our Ikea family members’ community in India, and this milestone only helps us bring the omnichannel Ikea experience closer to them.”

IKEA started its retail journey in India in 2018 after opening its first-ever store in Hyderabad. Since then, it has reached three more cities in India, including Navi Mumbai - 2020, Mumbai - 2021, and Bengaluru - 2022.
