Senate Republicans are pushing ahead a 1300-page funding bill that would give President Trump the $5.7 billion that he is demanding for an expansion of the southern border wall. The bill will grant temporary protection for "Dreamers" and will finally end the longest government shutdown in the history.
The Democrats have called the Bill 'dead on arrival'. They said that the protections for Dreamers are not enough and have also complained that the bill is stuffed with many unrelated, anti-immigration measures that would dramatically expand immigration enforcements in the US and will cut back the ability of the foreigners to request asylum.
However, the Republicans call the bill a reasonable compromise to end the partial government shutdown that makes a sound investment towards border security. Democrats call the bill "Trojan Horse" that will provide only short term threats against them.
