Beijing: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in Pakistan-China investment summit yet again, raised the issue of Kashmir with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leader and tried to drag China into the clash.
Imran said in the forum that he hoped the relationship between his country and India would improve after the elections. In the past, Imran banked upon the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to win the General Elections of India and resolve the issue of Kashmir.
“We want to build a civilized relationship with our eastern neighbours and there is a possibility that if we can resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue, things can improve,” said Imran Khan.
On the other hand, China concluded its recent dialogue with India foreign secretary and was asked to support India and other countries to ban Azhar Masood. While Imran meeting Chinese President comes at a time when Beijing is reviewing its stand on the JeM chief Azhar Masood issue under pressure from the US, Britain and France, who want him declared a “global terrorist”. China is the only country opposing this motion.
However, China shares closer bonds with Pakistan than India. Chinese President Xi Jinping said, “No matter how international and regional situations change, China firmly supports Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty and national dignity, choosing its own development path suited to its national conditions, combating terrorist and extremist forces striving for a sound external security environment, and playing a constructive role in international and regional affairs.”
Xi Jinping also went on to say, “Pakistan is China all-weather strategic cooperative partner. China and Pakistan are iron friends and have always firmly supported each other on issues concerning each other core interests.”
