Melbourne: The day 1 of the Boxing Day test was testing for both the Indian batsmen and the Australian bowlers as the Indian crawled at a run rate of just 2.42. But the scorecard tells altogether a different story as India score 215 runs for the loss of 2 wickets with Pujara and Kohli on the crease are solid having partnered for 92 runs.
Earlier in the day, Mayank Aggarwal batted like he always belonged to the big platform and scored runs with class. Pujara, in his traditional style, grinded the Australian bowling line-up scoring 68 off 200 deliveries.
Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, also looked comfortable and hit as many as 6 classy fours in his innings of 47 runs.
It would be very interesting to see how the Australian bowlers take up the challenge on Day 2 with the two of the highest ranked test batsmen in the world on crease.
