The train will run on a block corridor, and there will be eight stations on the 08 8-kilometer line. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is going to start the country's first metro corridor, which will be prepared to run three-coach trains. This corridor will prove to be an important achievement in the urban transport network of the country. The Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block corridor of Phase 4 will be built on the second-shortest metro line (8 kilometers) in the Delhi Metro network.
How will this train in Delhi benefit passengers
At present, trains with 4, 6, or 8 coaches are used on metro lines. The three-coach train has been specially developed for short-distance travel. Shorter trains will ensure better frequency and operational efficiency while accommodating an adequate number of daily passengers. Metro officials say this corridor is not just about reducing train length but also a step towards embracing the use of urban mobility with an efficient and low-cost metro system for the future. This will prove better at increasing the reach of the metro in narrow areas of the capital. Keeping in mind the estimation of passenger numbers, the Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor is being developed. This corridor will be very useful for short-distance passengers.
How is this metro economically better?
The smaller train will also have the advantage that it will consume less energy per trip. By investing in the 3-coach system, Delhi Metro is ensuring economic sustainability while providing a top-class urban transit solution. The Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor will significantly improve last-mile connectivity, especially for passengers traveling between South and Central Delhi. The project will help reduce travel time for thousands of daily commuters by reducing congestion on existing metro lines and providing seamless interchanges at major stations.
Capacity of 300 passengers in one coach
The capacity of each coach will be around 300 passengers so that the environment is not harmed, along with low expenses. The seating and standing capacity of each coach will be approximately 300 passengers; i.e., 900 passengers will be able to travel per trip in 3 coaches. The corridor has eight important stations, which include Lajpat Nagar (interchange with Pink and Violet lines), Andrews Ganj, GK-1, Chirag Delhi (interchange with Magenta Line), Pushpa Bhawan, Saket Court, Pushp Vihar, and Saket G Block (interchange with Golden Line).
