National Award-winning director Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming movie India Lockdown is all set to release on OTT. From the time, its trailer has got released fans can’t keep calm to watch amazing work on screen. India Lockdown is a multi-starrer film that has Saie Tamhankar, Shweta Basu Prasad, Aahana Kumra, Prakash Belawadi, Zarin Shihab, etc in it. The movie is all set to release on December 2, 2022 exclusively on Zee5.
For the people who are unversed, India Lockdown is a true story based on nationwide 21-day lockdown announced by PM Modi on 24 March 2020 due to pertaining fear of COVID pandemic. Although characters of film appear to be fictional, the concept of film roams around struggles faced by people during COVID lockdown. Madhur Bhandarkar through his film has portrayed life of people from different professions and what all horrors they faced during lockdown.
Talking about the film, India Lockdown has four stories of different people going parallel during pandemic. It portrays a daughter-father duo who are struck in different cities and cannot be together, a sex worker who goes through various hardships in personal as well as professional life due to rule of physical distancing. The film India Lockdown also shows a migrant worker who is forced to return to his hometown with his family as he has no earning left in city. At last life of a pilot is depicted resorting to alcohol while being stuck at home.
Talking about India’s first feature film on COVID pandemic, Madhur Bhandarkar said that India Lockdown releasing on Zee5 is his observation and depiction of stories of people who faces never-ending problems due to lockdown. He further added that India Lockdown will resonate with many people.

While telling why he chose this concept for his film, Madhur Bhandarkar revealed that main reason behind making this movie based on COVID pandemic lockdown announced by PM Modi was that it will make people realize that how unity and positive spirit of people all across country helped them to fight such a huge pandemic.
Madhur Bhandarkar is a director who is known to portray harsh realities of world through his films. He has done an amazing job with films like Fashion, Heroine, Traffic Signal, Page 3, etc. However, Bhandarkar's last movie Babli Bouncer was a light-hearted one starring Tamannah Bhatia. It was released on Disney Plus Hotstar and performed relatively well.
