India gets its first longest motorable suspension bridge which is now open for the public in Uttarakhand. It is located over the Tehri lake.
It took 14 long years to construct the 725 m long Dobra-Chanti suspension bridge which is built at a cost of INR 2.95 crores. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat tweeted about the development and announced the inauguration ceremony on November 8. The ceremony was attended by cabinet ministers Subodh Uniyal, Dhan Singh Rawat and others
The Dobra-Chanti suspension bridge will join a link between Tehri Garhwal district headquarters and Pratap Nagar. This bridge will also decrease the travel time between Tehri and Pratap Nagar from 5 hours to only 1.5 hours.

The inauguration of the bridge is of historic significance for Uttarakhand, as it will also bring new routes for the state’s development and growth. It will be providing electricity and water both for irrigation.
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat also added that Tehri Lake is a major tourist spot from the point of adventure activities. People visit the lake site to pursue activities like zorbing, boating, water skiing, banana boat ride, paragliding etc. The bridge will soon attract many tourists.
