Indian Railways has been undergoing significant changes nowadays; from the distribution of railways across the nation to the modernization of tracks and platforms, the sector has witnessed remarkable transformations.

It is to be noted that the Indian Railways is ranked the fourth-largest rail network around the world. As many as 13,000 trains are operated across the nation per day. In total, some trains cover long distances while some operate within a small distance, but surprisingly, there is a train that covers around 500 kilometers.

Notably, the longest-running train in India is ‘The Mumbai Central-Hapa Duronto Express,’ which precisely covers a distance of 493 kilometers a day without a single stop. The train operates from Mumbai to Hapa, with only three stopping stations on the way.

The train starts its journey on Monday at 11 pm and reaches Ahmedabad (one of its major stops) at 4:50 am, covering a journey of 493 kilometers. The train covers the total distance in just 5 hours and 50 minutes.

Earlier, the longest-running train was the ‘Trivandrum-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express,’ which runs between New Delhi and Trivandrum, Kerala, covering a total distance of around 2,845 kilometers. The total time taken by the train is around 42 hours.

Earlier, the train was scheduled to run non-stop from Kota, Rajasthan, to Vadodara, Gujrat, covering a distance of 528 kilometers, but recently, a new stop between both railway stations was introduced in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh - which reduced the non-stop journey distance to 258 kilometers.
