The eastern region in the country has recorded a power generation growth of 8.48% up to October 13 in the current fiscal year. Other states regions have logged a decrease of around five percent, showed the data released by Central Electricity Authority.
All India thermal power generation was below 3.64% while total generation was down by 2.92% in the same period.
This comes when the fear of coal shortage has grappled the country.

Meanwhile, the data shows the northern region to have power generation below 5.1% till October 13 whereas the thermal power generation was down by 6.45 per cent.
With 9.54 percent high was recorded in thermal power generation and hydel sources output have seen as record-high nearly by one percent till October 13 in the eastern region. Only nuclear power measured a three percent increase in the northern region in the same period.
A de-growth of power generation was clocked in the Western region up to 13 October of 5.06%, while thermal power generation was listed below by 4.79 percent, nuclear by 13.49 percent, and hydro by 5.65 percent, the CEA report showed.

Further, the data mentioned in the Southern pockets of the country the total generation had declined by 5.10 percent and the thermal slipped below 9.81 percent.
