India reports 3,55,102 recoveries in 24 hrs, only 8 states have over 1L active caseload

Over 19.33 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country under the inoculation drive against COVID-19, the statement said.

With 2,40,842 new Covid cases, India’s total tally on Sunday has mounted to 2,65,30,132, while with 3,741 deaths being reported in 24 hours, the fatality tally in the country now stands at 2,99,266. 

A total of 3,55,102 discharges in the last 24 hours were reported, taking the total recovery to 2,34,25,467. There are 28,05,399 active cases in the country. 

So far a total of 19,50,04,184 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in India.

In the last 24 hours, more than 20.66 lakh covid tests were conducted, the highest-ever done in a day, the Union health ministry said on Saturday. "With more than 20.66 lakh tests conducted in the last 24 hours, India has again set a new record of highest tests conducted in a day," it stated. 

Eight states in the country have more than 1 lakh active cases, while 20 states have fewer than 50,000 active cases, the active caseload is between 50,000-1,00,000 in eight states. The ministry added.

Black fungus or Mucormycosis is being reported in Covid patients that is causing alarm in the country. So far 9,000 patients have been affected by this fungus. The centre has stated that they are trying to ramp up the production of medicine required to treat this rare but fatal disease.

Meanwhile, Covishield covid vaccine wastage has reduced from 8 per cent to 1 per cent and Bharat Biotech's Covaxin has come down from 17 per cent to 4 per cent, the Health Ministry informed.
