Following the footsteps of other nations, India on Friday joined the chorus asking for second investigation by World Health Organisation into the origin of Covid-19. India has taken this decision after USA President Joe Biden asked US intelligence to find out the origin of coronavirus in China.
Recently, US intelligence has claimed that there is some evidence that coronavirus has been developed in a laboratory of the Wuhan Institute Virology.
The demands for further investigation have grown. After USA and Australia, its India who demanded detailed study by WHO on covid origin. The countries suspect that the virus has been originated in the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in late 2019 rather than from a bat.
On Friday, The Ministry of External Affairs Official Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, “The follow up of the WHO Report and further studies deserve the understanding and cooperation of all.”

He said, “The WHO convened global study on the origin of Covid-19 is an important first step. It stresses the need for next phase studies as also for further data and studies to reach robust conclusions.”
This is for the second time that India has responded on the matter, the first time the statement was released on April 1.
In March, the WHO came out with a report on the origin of the virus and concluded, with a fact that the virus has been transferred from bats to human beings. This report failed to meet the expectations of the USA and other countries.
The USA and other countries have expressed concern over the fact that the Chinese authority is not providing complete information to the WHO team probing the origin of the virus.
