Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh's effort to expose Republic TV has now backfired him. Param Bir Singh on Thursday claimed to have busted a fake TRP racket in which Republic TV's name emerged. The Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh called a press conference and informed that "I would like to say that the complaint came from Hansa which is a monitoring agency of BARC. The complaint has not come from the Mumbai Police. They identified the suspicious patterns in ratings of some certain channels including Republic TV."
The top cop also hinted at Arnab Goswami's arrest and said that he will soon be summoned by the Mumbai Police. On the other hand, Arnab Goswami refuted all allegations and said to file a criminal defamation case against the top cop. He also accused Param Bir Singh of targetting Republic TV as he asked questions from them in Sushant Singh Rajput's case.
Now yet another revelation has raised questions on the Mumbai Police and Param Bir Singh. Going by the reports of Republic, the complaint filed by BARC had actually named India Today TV for the crime, not Republic TV. The FIR filed in the case has been accessed by Republic TV, which shows that India Today was named in the FIR, not Republic TV as alleged by Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. The FIR names India Today several times, but the police commissioner chose to allege that Republic TV has been named.
Arnab Goswami also responded to the selective behavior of Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. He said, "Param Bir Singh don't investigate the India Today but closed down their investigation on Republic TV in 24 hours and threatens to seize our assets. Param Bir Singh calls a press conference and says Arnab is running proceeds of crime. He says that people advertise because the viewership of the Republic is high, well yes it is high, and thank you for being the channel's marketing strategist. But is this the job of Mumbai Police that you got a complaint on Wednesday of India Today and in 24 hours you turned it against Republic TV? Go to your master Uddhav Thackeray and tell him why you do it."
