Smriti hit a good 86 runs for the team in the second
women’s ODI in the series on Friday. She achieved her 19th half-century hitting 11 boundaries in total. While Smriti returned to her initial
form, she maintained two crucial partnerships, one with Richa Ghosh where she
scored 76 runs and another with Shafali Verma where she scored a total of 74
runs.
Mandhana and Shifali had scored a 68? 0 in the first 10 over
into the match which brought great leadership to the team and got them the upper hand
in the match. The duo had everything going good until spinner Sophie Molineux
entered the field and she changed the direction of the game in the 12th
over.
While the two had good sync together, there was a little mix up which led to Mithali Raj being run out at just 8 runs and then soon Yastika also joined Mithali after 3 runs. The Indian team did reach the 250 mark because of the contribution of the players who came after. Pooja Vastrakar scored 29 while Jhulan scored 28 with not out.
