An Indian army helicopter crashed near Ranjit Sagar Dam in Pathankot on Tuesday morning. Police have been called to the spot to ascertain the damage and causalities reported.
The helicopter, according to sources, belongs to the Indian Army. Rescue efforts are now ongoing. The army team on the other hand has also rushed to the scene to assess the damage and assist in the rescue operation.
Both pilots of the army helicopter are safe, defence sources said.
Army's aviation ALH Dhruv helicopter that had taken off from Pathankot in Punjab and met with an accident midway near Ranjit Sagar Dam.
Meanwhile, defence sources said, "Both the pilots are safe. The weapon system integrated helicopter had taken off from Pathankot and met with an accident during a routine sortie". However, sources claimed that search operation is going on, and the army and police teams are yet to locate the pilots.
